Blue John is a rare, semi-precious mineral, fluorite, found at only one location in the world, Treak Cliff Cavern which is at the western end of Hope Valley near Castleton in Derbyshire, England. The name Blue John derives from the French Bleu Jaune, meaning Blue John. It was first discovered by miners exploring the cavern for lead. Every piece of Blue John is as individual as you, and only the very best quality stone is used in our stunning jewellery. After every piece has been assessed it is skillfully mounted by expert craftsmen in Sheffield, only 16 miles from the mine in Castleton.
Every individual item has either a standard British Hallmark from the Sheffield Assay office, or has a large feature Hallmark.
